The initial concept of the design:

The Coal Loader site is a historical site. The initial idea of my design is to keep the site historical, represent its monumentality, and by doing so it can educate the visitors of the site. The place for exhibition of experimental art should minimize its influence and corporate with the site (the tunnel).

 

Educational idea:

The idea of the change of energy resources (from old to new)

The aboriginal ruins—wood

The coal loader—coal

The fuel tank—gasoline

The substation—electricity

The solar panels—solar energy (renewable resources)

 

The idea of show the monumentality of the site: Keep the tunnel as it is and only make limited change to its external look.
